Approximately 7 months ago, Jeff and I made a “life style” change, it was the day after Thanksgiving, 2014. We changed our diet, went to the gym at least 5 days a week, and made sure to get at least 8 hours sleep each night. Additionally, we made our “spiritual well being” a priority in our lives by staying faithful to our daily devotions.
Around the first of the year, Jeff started moving some of his personal items from his office at the church back to our house, unconsciously he was establishing a home studio. He admits that he didn’t have plans to create a studio, he was just following his instincts! He was acting on a strong sense to move things from the church to the house.
This past Christmas while visiting the home of close family friends, Jeff confided in the husband that he was experiencing feelings of uneasiness, but that he couldn’t identify the source behind those feelings. Well fast forward to the present, and things make perfectly good sense! I’ve shared a timeline of occurrences in Jeff’s and my life, which at the time didn’t make any sense at all. The events by themselves seemed abstract, but looked at together it makes all the sense in the world. In hindsight we both realize that it was God orchestrating every situation.
11-2014: The Carnies are inspired to get into physical, and spiritual shape. Unbeknownst to us, we were readying ourselves for a “battle of survival.”
12-2014: Jeff confides in his friend regarding his feelings of uneasiness which seemed to have no basis.
01-2015: Jeff began to move personal items from his office at the church, and set up a home studio.
Oh yea, I failed to mention that about 3 years ago, Jeff and I began to aggressively get our finances in order. We created a financial plan, stuck to it religiously, and began the journey of living considerably below our means. The objective was that through our ministry, we would have the ability to help more people.
We see now, that while decisions were being made that would drastically change our lives, and could have financially devastated us, God was making changes in our lives which would serve as a buffer in terms of the impact the change in our employment status would have on our lives. God was caring for us, even when we didn’t know we needed “His” protection. That’s why Jeff and I are able to stand confidently, without fear or hesitation, and follow God, even when we aren’t sure where He is leading. We know God has a plan for our lives! We understand the importance of being quiet, of being still, and listening to what God is saying to us.
From the time you are aware that there will be a change in your life, until the time you respond, there is “empty space.” Many people respond without taking the time to seek God’s direction. They respond out of emotions to the situation. However, if you go to that “empty space,” it is there you will find your power. It is there that you are able to pray, it is there that you will meet God. It is there that He will speak to you. Jeff and I are currently in that “space,” seeking God’s direction, and whole heartedly ready to follow. So, what do you do when changes occur in your life, know that God is making changes on your behalf. God’s plan is for all of us to prosper!
